A biologist has made a disturbing discovery. He invites a selected audience to witness his investigation into aliens, biology and rare encounters.

In Symbiosis, scientific research and personal obsession slide into one another. Stories of UFO sightings, forbidden ideas and strange orchids start to resonate in unexpected ways. The biologist follows these connections, not entirely sure whether he is uncovering a pattern or inventing one.

At the heart of his discovery lies a radical idea about the origin of complex life. An idea that was ridiculed for decades, and that drove those who pursued it toward isolation, paranoia, and worse.

Symbiosis is the first part of a trilogy inspired by Jeff VanderMeer’s Annihilation – a universe where sci-fi, horror and ecology converge. The second part is the location project The Empty Lot, the third part is the theatre production Annihilation.
