I Shut Down My Heart Until the Apocalypse

"Light a cigarette, my love
May the smoke cover the cities
 May everyone hit the road
I have no space in my backpack
You are heavy, like the world"

A forgotten nightclub in the heart of a city, a bar on the highway or a shelter... While four people wearing the enthusiasm and the darkness of the night on their face console the disaster in front of the door with lyrics of a song, a fifth just arrives with the smile of death on his face. biriken takes those who, merged in struggle, fear and lovelessness, test themselves with the transformative power of night to the stage.

I Shut Down My Heart Until the Apocalypse is a play inspired by the night and the secrets and revelations that the night brings. An 'arabesque' translation of the delicate fault lines of the heart, of wars big and small, of things gentle and harsh and our feelings of 'loss' that become increasingly concrete. The new play written and directed by biriken attempts to see images of individual and collective disasters in a hiding place of fragile souls.
